The most profitable and unprofitable banks in Russia in 2013

As official reports show, the rate of profit growth in the banking sector is gradually declining. For 9 months of 2013, the aggregate profit of banks decreased by 1.88% compared to the same indicator in 2012.

The number of credit organizations, whose activity brings only losses, has also increased. There are more than a hundred such banks on the market.

In the current selection, we will demonstrate the most profitable and unprofitable banks in Russia as of the end of the 3rd quarter of 2013

The most profitable Russian banks

5. VTB 24 (profit as of 01.10.2013 - 15,936 million rubles)

5. MTS-Bank (666 million rubles)

imageDespite the presence of a loss, the bank has significantly improved its operating results in comparison with the previous year. The value of negative fin. result decreased by 83%. And this gives good reason to believe that MTS-Bank will soon leave the ranks of outsiders.

4. National Reserve Bank (737 million rubles)

imageThe bank's loss significantly decreased in comparison with the same indicator of the previous year (by 66%). However, NRB has not yet succeeded in achieving a positive financial result. Perhaps the credit institution is gradually "winding down" its activities, because the management is actively reducing the bank's personnel.

3. Renaissance Credit (744 million rubles)

imageIf the financial result of the bank is not encouraging, then the growth of its assets is impressive. In comparison with the three quarters of last year, this figure has grown by almost 38%. Since the bank specializes in consumer lending, losses can be explained by the additional accrual of provisions for possible loan losses. Additional redundancy is associated with toughening requirements of the Central Bank.

2. Petrokommerts (1,279 million rubles)

imageLast year, following the results of three quarters, the bank showed profit. However, this year, despite losses, Petrokommerts managed to increase its assets by 7% and still remains an influential player in the banking market.

1. MDM Bank (2 660 million rubles)

imageThe most unprofitable bank in Russia even last year on October 1 showed the presence of profit. The bank explains this situation by the fact that the loss arose due to the requirements of the Central Bank for additional accrual of reserves. By the end of the year, the bank expects to return funds from the reservation.
