Due to the deterioration in the purchasing power of Russians, the domestic car market fell by 33.6% in January-October 2015. Some manufacturers have left the market, others have reduced model ranges, and still others have decided to upgrade their cars.
Automotive portal "AutoVzglyad" chose five most anticipated crossovers, which are unlikely to fail on the Russian market in 2016.
5. Lada Xray
Sales of the five-door hatchback will start in February 2016. Although the Lada Xray is positioned as a crossover, it will not have an all-wheel drive version. Under the hood of the AvtoVAZ car is a 123-horsepower engine, and a robotic gearbox is responsible for comfortable driving in city conditions. It is not yet known how much the car will cost customers.
Initially, the price was announced at 575 thousand rubles, but let us recall Lada Vesta, the cost of which turned out to be higher than expected. Considering that there is a crisis in the yard, a car more expensive than 600 thousand rubles is unlikely to be bought up like "hot cakes".
4. Chery Tiggo 3
Chinese car manufacturers are reducing their model lines in the Russian car market. Therefore, the inexpensive Chery Tiggo 3 crossover should be in demand, it will have few competitors. The advantages of the model: independent suspension, improved noise insulation and hydraulic power steering.
Chery Tiggo 3 sales will begin in July next year, at an estimated price of 412 to 535 thousand rubles, depending on the configuration.
3. Mitsubishi Pajero Sport
Sales of the new generation of the Japanese crossover are slated for the first half of 2016. The car will have two engine options: a 3.0-liter petrol V6 and a 2.4-liter turbodiesel with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The developers have taken care of the maximum environmental friendliness of their creation, so the amount of emissions from the car meets the Euro-5 standard.
The price of the new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport model is still unknown, but the current versions are sold for 1,659 million rubles.
2. KIA Sportage
Second place on the list of the most anticipated crossovers went to the Korean fourth-generation crossover, sales of which are scheduled for the first half of next year.
Whether this model will “shoot” or will fail depends on the price, which will be revealed closer to the start of sales. But it is unlikely that it will be low, given that under the hood of the Sportage, the basic configuration is a GDI engine with 132 hp, and in the advanced one - a turbocharged T-GDI with 177 hp.
The Sportage's design is not typical for KIA vehicles. The novelty has acquired a massive radiator grille and combined head light optics. In addition, the designers increased body rigidity by 39% and equipped the base version with as many as 6 airbags.
1. Volkswagen Tiguan
The most anticipated crossover in 2016 is the Tiguan, the German concern will release an updated model with a more aggressive design and massive body lines. Russian motorists will be able to purchase it in the second half of 2016. Volkswagen Tiguan is planned to be assembled in Kaluga, which will positively affect the cost of the car.
Realizing that the machine is not living alone with gasoline, the developers equipped the novelty with diesel and gasoline engines (from 115 to 220 hp), coupled with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed "robot". The basic configuration includes rear-view cameras and parking sensors.
The estimated price of the new Volkswagen Tiguan is 1,113 million rubles.
