The prestigious British financial magazine fDi Magazine has rated “European cities and regions of the future 2018/19"Published by The Financial Times.
FDi experts compared nearly 500 European cities and regions in terms of their economic potential, labor market, economic efficiency, infrastructure and business-friendly environment. “The fdi 2018/19 European Cities and Future Regions ranking seeks to find the most promising cities and regions across Europe, not just those belonging to the EU,” writes fDi.
The rating serves as a barometer of the attractiveness of many cities and regions, from Russia to Ireland and from Finland to Greece. The cities included in the fDi selection are, for the most part, actively promoted for domestic investment.
Moscow took several places in the fDi list at once.
- It was in sixth place among all the evaluated cities in Europe.
- And among the Eastern European megalopolises, the Russian capital is the undisputed leader, bypassing the Polish, Romanian and Czech capitals.
- According to such criteria as the standard of living and the volume of human capital, Moscow is in second place, behind London.
- In addition, fDi experts ranked Moscow as the fifth most entrepreneurial city in Europe.
Here's what the full list of the best European cities of the future 2018-19 looks like.
To create a list of European cities and regions of the future, fDi experts collected data using specialized foreign direct investment tools - fDi Benchmark and fDi Markets, among other sources.
Cities were assessed according to hundreds of parameters, which included:
- Urban GDP;
- how accessible the Internet is;
- how affordable is office rent;
- how many citizens have higher education;
- what is the life expectancy of townspeople, etc.
Both Russia as a whole and its individual cities have been included in the ratings related to the standard of living and infrastructure development for several years. For example, in the newest ranking of countries in the world in terms of living standards our country took 26th place.
