What are the safest Russian roads? The center "For the safety of Russian roads" answered this question by compiling Russian road safety rating... January 2016 was taken as the starting point of reference, and August as the final one.
The rating includes information on 53 Russian regions with a population of over a million people. And the length of the "accounted" roads should be over 5 thousand km. When compiling the rating, the following were taken into account:
- the number of people living in the region;
- number of road accidents;
- the number of people who were injured or died in road traffic accidents;
- the size of the car park in the region;
- the length of regional roads.
The Tyumen region took the first place in road safety. During the reporting period, 161 accidents occurred in it due to poor road surface. This is the best indicator since 2013. And this is how the complete list of safe Russian roads looks like, sorted from best to worst. The safest roads in the country are shown in green, medium-hazard roads in yellow, and the most dangerous roads in red.
In 2015-2016, thanks to the introduction of speed cameras of the intelligent system "Avtodoria", the number of speed violations decreased by almost three times. However, according to the expert "For the safety of Russian roads" Sergei Vorobyov, the situation on Russian roads due to road accidents is not getting any better. In a formal comparison of the 2015-2016 ratings, it becomes clear that the safety “coefficients” are decreasing, albeit not too much. For example, in Tatarstan, it decreased from 3.3 to 3.15. However, the average number of people killed and injured in road accidents is not decreasing. If in the rating of dangerous and safe roads of the Russian Federation for 2015 the average number of deaths and injuries in road accidents was 10.5 and 108 people, respectively, then this year it is 9.8 dead and 117 injured, respectively, that is, the difference is within the boundaries of the statistical error ...
Perhaps, the situation with street and road networks will help improve the strategic federal project "Safe and High-Quality Roads". It is one of the priorities and provides for the construction of new road facilities and bringing the central highways, as well as roads adjacent to federal highways in a normative and safe state for drivers and passengers.
