Humanity has always strived to overcome already existing boundaries. For example, as soon as a skyscraper appears, claiming to be the "tallest building in the world", an even taller structure appears in a few years. So far, the mark of one kilometer has not been overcome, but there is little to do - to wait for the completion of the construction of the Burj Al Mamlak skyscraper.
And we present a list from which you will find out how many floors are in the tallest building in the world.

10. International Commercial Center - 484 meters

Hong Kong, in addition to its highly developed economy and high standard of living, is famous for its record number of skyscrapers. In total, there are 316 buildings in the metropolis, whose height exceeds the mark of 150 meters. But none of them compare to the stately World Trade Center building.
Initially, the project for its creation envisaged a height of 574 meters, but it had to be "cut", since it is impossible to build buildings in the city whose height exceeds the surrounding mountains.
Most of the floors of the center are reserved for offices, but at its top (from 118 to 102 floors inclusive) is a five-star hotel, the rooms of which offer a wonderful view of Hong Kong, especially at sunrise and sunset.
For comparison: the tallest building already built in Russia - MFC "Federation" - reaches a height of 373.7 meters.
9. World Financial Center - 492 meters
Location: Shanghai, China
This skyscraper is only 16 meters lower than the eighth number in the list of the tallest buildings in the world. Due to the shape of the building, it is called the "bottle opener".
The foundation stone of the skyscraper was laid in 1997, but due to the financial crisis in Asia, the project was frozen, and construction resumed only in 2003. And the center was completely ready by 2008.
Initially, in the upper part of the building, they wanted to make not a rectangular, but a round hole, symbolizing the sky and reducing the wind load on the building, but the designers decided that with a rectangular hole it would be cheaper and easier to implement the project.
8. Taipei 101 - 509 meters
Location: Taipei, Taiwan
It was the tallest skyscraper in the world between 2004 and 2007. It is named after its location and the number of floors in the building.
In addition, Taipei 101 is the first skyscraper in the world to overcome a half-kilometer height and no one will take this title away from it.
The design of the building is inspired by traditional Chinese architecture and is shaped like a pagoda.
Since the building is located in a place where earthquakes and strong winds are not uncommon, its creators provided protection from natural disasters by equipping the skyscraper with an external frame and an internal damper. It is a 660 ton ball made of 41 steel plates. It is suspended from eight steel cables, supported by eight shock absorbers and can move 1.5 meters in any direction. It is the largest and heaviest damper in the world.
The striking design of Taipei 101 won the 2004 Emporis Skyscraper Award.
The elevators in this skyscraper are one of the fastest in the world, they rise at a speed of 1010 meters per minute (60.48 km / h) and descend at a speed of 610 m / min (36.6 km / h). It is also interesting that the Chinese skyscraper is one of the few buildings in the world equipped with two-story elevators.
7. Financial Center CTP - 530 meters
Location: Guangzhou, China
The seventh largest skyscraper in the world houses office space, a hotel, residential apartments and a shopping center.
Two of the 86 elevators installed in the Chinese high-rise can rise at a speed of 70-72.4 km / h or 19.4-20.1 m / s. These are the fastest elevators in the world. However, they descend twice as slowly as they rise.
The streamlined shape of the building practically negates the effect of air currents on it.
6. World Trade Center 1 - 541.3 meters
Location: New York
The tallest skyscraper in the Big Apple, also known as the Freedom Tower, was erected on the site of the former World Trade Center, which was attacked by al-Qaeda terrorists on September 11, 2001.
The height of the new building - 1,776 feet (541 meters) - is a reference to the year the United States Declaration of Independence was signed.
The creators of the tower took into account the sad experience gained during the evacuation of victims from the previous World Trade Center.
- There is now a hideout on each floor of WTC 1, while the elevators are located in a secure central tier of the building that serves all floors of the tower.
- The building also has an emergency staircase for firefighters, fire protection has been significantly improved, and the air supply system includes chemical and biological filters.
- The 57-meter base of the structure is made of monolithic concrete, and in order to avoid a heavy look, the architects "equipped" the facade of WTC 1 with prismatic glass blocks of blue color. They shimmer beautifully and sparkle in the sun.
On the territory of WTC 1, in the place where the twin towers were located, there is a Memorial in memory of the victims of the terrorist attack. We also have a museum dedicated to the events of 11.11.
5. Tower Lotte World - 554.5 meters

A brand new skyscraper, built in 2017, has got into the tallest buildings in the world. It is the tallest in South Korea.

4. Pingan International Financial Center - 599 meters
Location: Shenzhen, China
Initially, it was decided to build a skyscraper with a height of 660 meters. Thus, he had to surpass the current Chinese leader - the Shanghai Tower. But the aircraft ruined everything. In order not to interfere with the flights of planes and other helicopters, the antenna was removed from the plan, thereby reducing the height of the building to the current 599 meters.
1.7 thousand tons of high quality stainless steel were used for the building facade. This material will allow the tower to maintain its aesthetic appearance longer, even with the salty coastal atmosphere of the city.
3. Royal Clock Tower (Abraj al-Beit) - 601 meters
Location: Mecca, Saudi Arabia
The beautiful building, decorated with glass mosaics, is one of the new symbols of Mecca.
At the top of the skyscraper is a giant four-sided clock, the dial of which is the largest in the world. Its dimensions are 45 by 43 meters and are comparable to the size of a small football field. Such a dial is visible from a distance of 12 meters during the day and 17 meters at night.

It has the world's tallest observation deck located inside the building and is also the tallest building in China.
The tower spirals upwards in a spiral manner, this design allows you to compensate for the influence of wind at high altitudes.
Brave Russian extreme lovers (the very ones who climbed the Lotte Tower) entered the construction site of the skyscraper and filmed a video about this, which gained over 66 million views in several years.

1. Burj Khalifa - 828 meters

This was enough for luxury residential apartments (there are about 900 of them) and for a hotel with 304 rooms and for offices of various companies. There are also three underground garages that can accommodate 3,000 cars at a time.
The windows of the tower offer a stunning view of the turquoise waters of an artificial lake at the foot of the skyscraper. There is a unique fountain on this lake, equipped with 6000 light sources and jets that gush at a height of 150 meters. All this unforgettable sight is accompanied by musical accompaniment.
Although the shape of the building is similar to the Willis Tower tubular tower concept, it is structurally different and is not technically a tubular structure. The outlines of the foundation give rise to associations with the desert flower of pankration. This was done not for the sake of beauty, but for the sake of facilitating the construction of a building whose height exceeds several hundred meters.
And the facade cladding system is designed to withstand the extreme summer temperatures in Dubai.

At first, they decided to call the skyscraper Burj Dubai. But during the inauguration ceremony of the building, it was renamed Burj Khalifa, in honor of the President of the UAE, Khalifa Ibn Zayed al-Nahyan.

However, the Burj Khalifa will not be called the tallest skyscraper on Earth for long. In 2020, the construction of the Jeddah Tower (Burj al Mamlaka), already 1 kilometer high, should be completed. The initiator of the ambitious project is Prince Al-Walid bin Talal, who is the nephew of the King of Saudi Arabia.
The architect was Adrian Smith, who led the construction of the Burj Khalifa.
In October 2017, 56 of the 167 planned floors of the tower were completed.
