For more than one hundred years, parquet has been known as a comfortable and beautiful floor covering. The start was taken in Europe, where craftsmen began to lay out original drawings on the floor from planks, or rivets. The parquet floor quickly migrated to castles and palaces. In Russia, this coating appeared in the 16th century and is still one of the most popular types of wood flooringthough costly.
One of the largest procurers of raw materials for parquet production in Russia is the Segezha Group timber industry holding. One of the main missions of the company is to protect the environment when harvesting and processing wood. The Segezha Group of Companies was one of the first to start production of parquet flooring in the CIS.
Over time, several layers of parquet flooring appeared. Strictly speaking, they are not one hundred percent parquet; rather, they can be called a substitute.
Natural or analog?
These strong, durable and heat-absorbing flooring materials can be either natural wood or multi-layer. The second category refers to the engineering coating, that is, the budget analogue of parquet. Types of natural parquet:
- Single piece, made in the form of separate strips;
- Dvortsovy, which is a kind of piece. Also called artistic, due to complex drawings;
- Massive, consisting of a single piece of wood.
Derived options:
- Parquet board formed from several layers of wood;
- Typesetting (mosaic), completed from small dies;
- Shield, made of boards (shields), the top layer of which is small strips - rivets.
Block parquet
Most popular. It is produced in the form of wooden dies made of solid wood, which have spikes and grooves on the sides and on the end part for better connection during assembly. Its service life and cost depends on the manufacturing technology, thickness and quality of the starting material. The coating is durable and maintainable.
Palace parquet
One of the most expensive, since up to 80 different types of wood are used in its production. To be absolutely precise, art parquet is, rather, a technology for laying patterned block parquet. His drawing consists of strips of different shapes, textures and colors. From the palace parquet, you can lay out real masterpieces of flooring, resistant to unstable temperature and humidity.
Solid board
The highest quality and most expensive coating made from solid wood. By design, the array is similar to block parquet, it differs mainly only in dimensions and the presence of a four-sided lock connection. Solid parquet is convenient because it can be laid directly on the joists. The service life reaches 100 years.
Panel parquet
Refers to the engineering massif, since natural wood planks are glued to plywood boards or chipboard base. It is made in the form of a square, when laying it requires a clear angle of 90 °. Lacquer coating is required.
Parquet flooring
It is a subspecies of panel board, but more diverse in color and texture.The covering consists of small square strips assembled from small shields. The second name - mosaic - is obtained for the ability to create a variety of patterns. In order to simplify installation, the parquet is glued to paper with the front side. That is, the drawing is already assembled. The seamy side can be protected with a rubber or foam layer.
Multilayer board
According to the name, it contains several working layers:
- Top layer - varnish or wax coating;
- Solid or multi-strip wood;
- Base from woodworking waste or inexpensive wood material;
- Stabilization layer.
On the edges of such boards, ridges and grooves are made for connection. Like massive, it fits on logs or a solid base base. Not subject to scraping.
