According to the latest report State of Mobile Device Repair & Security from Blancco Technology Group, Samsung smartphones had the highest crash rate of any Android device in Q1 2018. However, iOS devices kept pace with their main competitor.
The report is based on data from iOS and Android devices that are shared with Blancco from carriers and retailers for "test and erase".

According to Blancco, Galaxy S7 is the most unreliable Android device... Its bounce rate is 9 percent. This smartphone is followed by the S7 Edge (8 percent) and the legacy Galaxy S5 (five percent).
Samsung smartphones accounted for the largest share (27.4%) of all calls to service centers in Q1 2018. In terms of bounce rates, they are significantly ahead of the brands that are in second and third places in the ranking of the most unreliable mobile phones - Xiaomi (14.2%) and Motorola (9.6%). Most likely, this is due to the fact that the share of the mobile market of the South Korean Samsung is greater than that of competitors.
The most common problems with Android smartphones in 2018 were related to the overall performance of the devices (34% of breakdowns), as well as the camera, microphone and charger.

Blancco also included in the anti-rating of smartphone reliability iPhone 6... This smartphone became the most unreliable iPhone model with a failure rate of 22%. And his “colleague” with the S prefix has a breakdown rate of 16%. Back in 2016, a number of iPhone 6S devices stopped working due to an issue called "Touch Disease". It caused display flickering and multi-touch problems.
Last year it was revealed that Apple is artificially limiting the performance of older iPhones, including the 6S, resulting in slowdowns and unexpected disconnections.
Blancco also notes that recent software updates have negatively impacted the battery life of both the iPhone 6 and 6S, which is likely a sign of Apple's iOS 11.4 release.
The biggest performance issues for iOS devices, according to the Blancco report, were related to Bluetooth and WiFi, followed by headset and mobile data usage.
The data also shows that 74.3% of Apple devices are running the latest version of iOS 11 from Apple, and 52% of Android phones are running the Google Nougat operating system.
Blancco also reports that the number of breakdowns in smartphones running Android has increased significantly compared to the first quarter of 2017 - up to 34% in the first quarter of 2018. Perhaps Android device manufacturers should improve their quality control.
