Many Russians complain about the unresolved problems of their city. The Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, having conducted sociological surveys in 2017, found out which Russian megacities can be called the most disadvantaged in terms of quality of life... Poverty in these cities of Russia borders on the desire to move to another region.
To objectively assess the quality of life in a particular Russian city, its residents were asked about such important areas as:
- the level of medicine and the availability of medical facilities, etc .;
- satisfaction with the state of the roads with the work of public transport and traffic police;
- willingness to move from hometown in search of a better life;
- the state of the housing stock, the quality of the housing and communal services, the level of city improvement, etc.
- the opportunity to get a good education and the number of cultural institutions in the city;
- assessment of the work of the city authorities, including the perception of the level of their corruption.
According to the results of the study, the most prosperous cities in terms of living standards in Russia were Tyumen, Grozny, Kazan, the Northern Capital and Krasnodar.
And here's what a dozen outsiders look like.
The worst cities in Russia in terms of living standards in 2018
10. Rostov-on-Don
The largest southern city of Russia opens the rating of cities with the lowest living standards. Although he is rapidly preparing for the FIFA World Cup, the townspeople speak negatively about the work of the city authorities and the state of the roads, coupled with the work of the traffic police. But the level of culture and education is high, and the Rostovites, for the most part, do not want to move from their hometown.
9. Izhevsk
The townspeople highly rate the condition of roads and road facilities, as well as the work of the traffic police. And the level of education and culture is very low. The work of the city authorities was also awarded low marks, and together with them the townspeople spoke unflatteringly about the work of housing and communal services and the state of the housing stock.
8. Ulyanovsk
A beautiful city with a good climate has several sore spots. One of the troubles is the most widespread in Russia. You have probably guessed by now, these are roads. There are also problems with public transport, as well as with cultural leisure and poor quality of education. Also in Ulyanovsk they collect garbage very poorly.
7. Lipetsk
Residents of Lipetsk assess the activities of the city authorities very low. The level of education is also low and there are very few attractions. On the other hand, the high quality of medical care and the road surface does not suggest the recent bombing.
6. Chelyabinsk
The city of harsh people and a developed metallurgical industry is "rolled up" in asphalt, but the quality of the roads leaves much to be desired. And only minibuses "survived" from public transport. It is very difficult to get to the right place in the city without your own car if it is not within walking distance.
Education related to technical specialties is at a high level. The level of medicine is average.
Both locals and visitors alike celebrate a small number of quality educational and cultural sites.
5. Omsk
Least of all, residents of Omsk are satisfied with the state of the housing stock and the work of utilities in their native city. The poor condition of the roads, the confusion with the direction signs, many of which do not lead to where they are pointing, are noted by both Omsk residents and guests of the city.
On the other hand, according to the survey results, things are doing very well both with culture and with the level of education.
4. Astrakhan
The main transport hub of the Lower Volga region is rich in architectural monuments, but there are not enough new buildings in it. On average, there are 18 squares per person, while the norm is 20 squares. The housing stock is dominated by private and low-rise buildings.
The townspeople gave the lowest marks to the work of housing and communal services and the quality of medical services. And the highest - the state of the roads, the level of culture and education.
3. Togliatti
A beautiful green city with wide streets is depressed in comparison with many other cities of the Volga region, it is also considered one of the poorest cities in Russia in terms of budget spending per inhabitant. Migration attitudes are widespread, especially among young people. As in many other cities on the "black list" for quality of life, Togliatti hospitals lack qualified medical personnel.
The quality of education and the opportunity for cultural recreation were rated very low by the respondents from Tolyatti. However, six local schools were included in the top 500 best educational institutions in Russia.
Urban roads are currently being actively repaired ahead of the FIFA World Cup. So there is hope that Togliatti will no longer be in the top three worst cities in the next ranking.
2. Volgograd
In 2017, this city was recognized as the poorest among 13 cities with a population of over one million. The average salary in large and medium-sized institutions in Volgograd is slightly above 32 thousand rubles. In Rostov-on-Don, adjacent to Volgograd, which ranks 10th in the rating of the most disadvantaged cities in Russia in 2018, the average salary reaches 38 thousand rubles.
"Killed" roads, high prices for public transport, poor condition of housing stock, inactivity of housing and communal services, difficulties in making an appointment with the right doctor only aggravate the generally negative picture of life in Volgograd.
1. Makhachkala
This city is called the urban apocalypse. Many houses are being built in it without an expert opinion and without design estimates. Many territories belonging to parks, schools and hospitals have been sold out, and even, as the public figure Suleiman Uladiev claims, even some sidewalks. The high level of corruption in the authorities, poor performance of housing and communal services, unclear prospects for the future in their hometown and other problems related to the quality of life make many citizens seek their happiness in more prosperous cities of the Russian Federation.
