Rating of investment preferences of Russians in 2013

imageWhat would you spend 45-50 thousand rubles received in addition to the basic income? This is the question that the specialists of the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center asked the respondents.

Having studied the answers of 1,600 respondents, they compiled rating of investment preferences of Russians in 2013... All answers were grouped by analysts into five main types of spending: consumption, saving, insurance, investing and debt recovery.

5. Return of debts (11% of respondents)

imageRussians are in no hurry to pay off the loan ahead of schedule or return the debt to their neighbor. This type of financial behavior has proven to be the most unpopular. This research has been conducted by VTsIOM since 2004, and debt collection invariably attracts the smallest number of respondents.

4. Saving (14% of respondents)

imageOf those who preferred this strategy, 12% of those surveyed would prefer to set aside money in order to save up over time for a major purchase: an apartment or an expensive car. Another 2% would prefer to save money through the purchase of gold, jewelry, ornaments.

The attractiveness of the savings strategy is beginning to decline somewhat - it reached its peak in 2007-2008.

3. Investing (19% of respondents)

imageAbout 14% of those surveyed would put their money in a bank or purchase securities. 4% of the respondents would invest 45-50 thousand rubles in their own business, and 1% prefers to spend money on their own education: advanced training and acquisition of new skills.

Investing for the purpose of generating income is most popular among the respondents in the 25-34 age group.

2. Insurance (41% of respondents)

imageOne of the most popular options in rating of investment preferences of Russians in 2013 - it is "to hedge" and to set aside money "for a rainy day", "in reserve." This is exactly what 28% of the respondents answered. About 12% of respondents would spend money on treatment, including purchasing a voluntary health insurance policy. The purchase of other types of insurance policies, as well as additional pension provision, attracts 1% of the respondents.

1. Consumption (57% of respondents)

imageSince 2004, consumption has been the leading financial strategy every year.

28% of Russians would spend the indicated amount on the purchase of various things for the home. 13% of the respondents supported the development of children and their education, 8% will spend money on entertainment and travel, and another 8% are able to add funds and buy a car or land.

The most active “consumers” were respondents from 18 to 34 years old. Moreover, the youngest respondents aged 18 to 24 are more likely than others to spend on travel and entertainment.
