10. Three Fat Men (1966)
The rating of favorite Soviet fairy tales opens with a story shot by Alexei Batalov based on the story of the same name by Yuri Olesha. She talks about three brutal rulers who rule the city until the young heir to Tutti comes of age. The gunsmith Prospero, the tightrope walker Tibul, Dr. Gaspar and the circus girl Suok, who is very similar to the favorite doll of the heir to Tutti, are fighting against the tyranny of the three fat men.
Interesting tricks, combined shooting, excellent acting and catchy songs make "Three Fat Men" a favorite fairy tale for several generations of Russians.
An interesting fact: for the sake of the role of Tibulus, Alexei Batalov learned to walk the tightrope for several months and performed the tricks in the film himself, without an understudy.
9. Old Man Hottabych (1956)
Once the schoolboy Volka found an ancient jug, opened it and thereby freed the wise and kind genie Ghassan Abdurahman ibn Hottab from captivity. For short - Hottabych. In gratitude, the genie is ready to fulfill the boy's wishes and goes with him on an exciting journey on a flying carpet.
Not all spectators liked the play of Alexei Litvinov (Volka), it was called "sluggish" and "mechanical". However, most of the reviews speak exclusively in excellent terms about the performer of the role of Hottabych - Nikolai Volkov. It is also worth noting the excellent musical accompaniment in the film and the absence in it of the "main villain", typical for most fairy tales.
8. Cinderella (1947)
A sweet, naive and kind tale about poor Cinderella, which, thanks to the fairy godmother, got to the ball and charmed the prince, was filmed back in 1947. But, thanks to the excellent performance of Yanina Zheimo, Erast Garin, Faina Ranevskaya, this film is pleasant and interesting to watch even today.
7. About Little Red Riding Hood (1977)

6. Sorcerers (1982)
This fantastic comedy, based on a script by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky, cannot be called the best children's fairy tale of the Soviet era. This would be unfair to adult audiences, because The Wizards are equally good for people of all ages. And it's not for nothing that this film is shown annually on New Year's Eve, it is very kind, bright, and the songs in it are wonderful.
In the center of the plot is Ivan Pukhov (Alexander Abdulov), who is preparing for the wedding with his bride Alena Sanina (Alexander Yakovleva). But Alena is not an easy girl, she is a witch and works at the NUINU Institute. Thanks to the intrigues of an insidious admirer - Apollo Sataneev (played by Valentin Gaft) - Alena turns from a sweet and kind girl into a cold and ruthless witch. And now, on New Year's Eve, Ivan urgently needs to go to Kitezh-grad to free his beloved from evil spells.
5. Morozko (1964)
Director Alexander Rowe has made many good fairy tale films for children. Among them was a film about a kind girl Nastenka and an evil stepmother, who decided to get rid of her stepdaughter by sending her to freeze in the winter forest.
This tale demonstrates a striking difference between positive and negative characters. Nastenka is kind, hardworking, smart and friendly. And her half-sister Marfushechka and stepmother have absorbed all the negative qualities - from greed and envy to cruelty and stupidity. Thanks to this, "Morozko" is not only an interesting, but also an instructive movie.
4. Mary Poppins, goodbye (1983)
Many parents dream of the perfect nanny. However, such a nanny herself chooses a suitable family for herself. She will teach children impeccable manners, and introduce them to the magical world where porcelain cats come to life, you can fly in balloons and drink tea while hanging in the air.
Dances, songs and humor - these are three pillars on which the popularity of this good children's fairy tale, filmed in the USSR, rests.
3. Kingdom of crooked mirrors (1963)
One of the best Soviet children's films, shot by Alexander Row, will introduce children to the wonderful world of the Looking Glass, where an ordinary schoolgirl Olya falls. Together with her double - the girl Yalo - she has to save the boy Gurd from prison, defeat the villains and destroy the distorting mirrors.
2. An ordinary miracle (1978)
This is a picture that can be safely called a fairy tale for adults. It starred such stars of Soviet cinema as Oleg Yankovsky, Yevgeny Leonov, Andrei Mironov, Yuri Solomin and Alexander Abdulov.
The film features a great musical score and is full of witty dialogues that have long been taken away into quotes. And its entire atmosphere is saturated with romance with a touch of drama. After all, the main character, performed by Alexander Abdulov, must turn into a bear if he kisses a beautiful princess. This is the condition set by the eccentric wizard. And he is not going to cancel his decision, because only brave-hearted people ... or bears deserve a happy ending.
1. The Adventures of Buratino (1975)
