"Russian IMDb" has long become one of the most beloved resources, where many users from all over the post-Soviet space are looking for something to watch, watch news, read reviews and while away time in waiting for the release of interesting new products.

However, every barrel of honey has its own fly in the ointment: there are doubts about the impartiality of KinoPoisk's ratings. At the end of 2016, a journalistic investigation appeared, as a result of which it turned out that the distribution companies tried to artificially wind up ratings on the KinoPoisk website through third parties. But not only do they wind up the ratings of their own paintings - they are still trying to influence the market as a whole, "drowning" their competitors. Therefore, the ratings of paintings released after 2005-2007 should be treated with a reasonable degree of caution. Fortunately, there are not so many such films in the top of the best films of all time.

IMDb is the creation of film enthusiasts who dreamed of creating a large database of all films and all the actors who have ever starred in them. Like many other projects created by hobbyists and bought out by big companies, IMDb was bought by the networking giant Amazon. However, this is a story with a happy ending, because the project managed to save face, and the interference of "Amazon" in its affairs was minimal.

IMDb ratings are numerous, ranging from the best films in the history of cinema to the most terrible films that are definitely not worth watching. The site is taking steps to avoid cheating, and so far it has been successful. At least no exposing articles by journalists on this topic have yet appeared.

Hearts and minds all over the world respond to good cinema. A comparison of the ratings of the best films in the world according to KinoPoisk (Russia) and IMDb (mainly the English-speaking world) only proves this. And there and there in the first place - the same picture, the brilliant creation of Frank Darabont - The Shawshank Redemption.

The second film of this director, The Green Mile (also based on Stephen King's book) is ranked only 31st among foreigners, while Russians ranked it second. And the mafia drama "The Godfather" is much more popular with foreign viewers - both films, the first and the second, are in the top of the best films of all time according to IMDb, respectively, in second and third places, but at KinoPoisk - at 13 and 60. But in general, in assessing the most interesting films, both residents of the post-Soviet space and foreigners largely agree.
