In my job as a recruiter, which I have been doing for nearly 10 years, I often have to deal with applicants whose candidacies are removed from consideration due to their gross mistakes in the negotiation process.
Of course, we are not talking about top managers and experts of the expert level, because, as a rule, in the process of building their careers, they have already earned a reputation for themselves, have the necessary connections and are in demand in the modern labor market so much that they no longer need to look for work. They always have several job offers in their assets.
In this article, I propose, in the format of harmful advice, to discuss the mistakes made in the process of finding a job by job seekers of the level of specialists.
Don't submit your resume
When you see a vacancy that meets your expectations, there is no need to submit a resume. Urgently call the phone number indicated in the announcement and ask questions about the amount of wages, the availability of an extended social package and the amount of compensation for fuel and lubricants. If you are satisfied with the answers, then insist on solving all the questions without a resume, because it is not needed, because you will come and tell everything about yourself.

Do not include a title
If you are sending a resume for a vacancy that interests you, then do not write about which vacancy you are applying for, or simply indicate that you are looking for a job in accordance with your experience and interests. Let the HR manager decide for you what is interesting to you, he has a lot of free time, and therefore he will solve this problem with dignity and pleasure.
Request a meeting with the director
If, based on the results of considering your resume, you were invited for an interview and offered to fill out a questionnaire, I recommend that you definitely share your opinion that this questionnaire is a sign of bureaucracy in this company and not a very high level of mental development of its management. Alternatively, you can unambiguously make it clear to the HR manager that you are offended by the need to pass the initial interview with him, and that you are ready to communicate only with the manager whose staff is required.
Dress at home
When invited for an interview, it is not necessary to follow the dress code, because you do not work there yet, and therefore it is better to come for an interview immediately from the dacha or a protracted banquet. One hundred percent result will be ensured if at the interview you refuse to take off your outerwear and hat, any company wants to get a specialist on its staff who ignores the rules of good manners.
Reschedule your interview
When coordinating interviews, it is not necessary to warn the HR manager about a delay or rescheduling of the meeting time, because you consider yourself a valuable specialist, and therefore, let the whole world wait.
Provide irrelevant contact information
In your resume and questionnaire, you should indicate only those phone numbers that you use occasionally or plan to change in the near future.
Tell us everything about your past place of work
During the interview, do not forget to talk about how incompetent your manager was at the previous place of work, and how difficult it was to work in a team of gossips and careerists. This story of scandal-intrigue-investigation will reveal in you a loyal and diplomatic potential future employee.
Mention mortgages, loans, and sick relatives
When asked how you estimate the cost of your labor, tell us about the fact that you have a loan, a mortgage and a car loan. The employer will rate this much higher than your assessment of the level of development of professional and personal competencies.
Call your HR manager daily
In the final part of the interview, you should not agree on the time of receipt and the format of feedback; it is better to call every day and ask about when you will start work.
