Nature is sometimes very cruel, sending hurricanes, tsunamis, earthquakes and other natural disasters to the world. But sometimes she creates her creations in a surprisingly playful mood. Don't believe me? Check out our selection of the funniest animals in the world and smile. And have a nice day!
10. Axolotl
This funny guy, who is also called the aquarium dragon and the Mexican salamander, belongs to the amphibians from the Ambistomidae family. And do not be deceived by its innocent appearance, the axolotl reaches puberty and is capable of reproduction, remaining in appearance as a real amphibian child.
Where did the axolotl get its unusual name? Some say it comes from Xolotl (or Cholotl), the Aztec god of death. He was also a god of ugliness and sometimes turned into a dog or salamander. In fact, there is a myth that Xolotl turned into a salamander when the souls of the underworld rebelled against him, and he wanted to hide at the bottom of Lake Xochimilco, where he stayed so long that he could no longer walk on earth.
Others say that "axolotl" comes from two words - "atl" (which means "water") and "xolotl" (which means "dog"), therefore "axolotl" is a water dog.
9. Angora rabbit
In the photo of the funniest animals in the world, you will see completely different creatures - bald, shaggy, covered with bristles. However, there are no more fluffy ones like the angora rabbit in our selection.
This revived ball of fur is pleasant to iron, because the fur of the angora rabbit is very soft to the touch. With one caveat - if the animal is combed daily. Then it can easily be ranked as the most beautiful animal in the world.
By the way, the most famous Angora rabbit in the world, Wally, already has more than 295 thousand subscribers on Instagram (it is called wally_and_molly). I don’t know about you, but for me such a figure causes a slight feeling of inferiority.
8. Crab Yeti
You still don't believe in Bigfoot? But in front of you is his pet, he even indicated it in the name!
Okay, jokes aside. After all, the harsh conditions in which these crustaceans live are not very fun. Yeti crabs are found more than 2000 meters below the surface of the water, next to very hot hydrothermal vents in the South Pacific Ocean. Therefore, they must be very careful not to get boiled alive or freeze in cold water. Moreover, toxic gases make it difficult to breathe fully.
However, the yeti crab has perfectly adapted even to such an existence. The long bristles covering its body and claws, according to some scientists, help purify polluted water. Other scientists believe that these bristles contain a large number of bacteria, which serve as the main food of this creature.
7. Grimpoteutis
If Dumbo the elephant was born an octopus, he probably would be just like grimpoteutis.
The most obvious feature of dumbo octopuses is their rounded "ears" protruding from the sides of their heads. No other octopus species can boast of anything like this.
These cephalopods are sometimes called winged octopuses because the "ears" can also look like "wings". (Remember that Dumbo could fly?)
However, in reality, "ears" are not ears at all, and not even wings, but fins.
Aside from their mock ears, the funniest ocean animals are known for their bell-shaped heads and big eyes. Their eyes are about a third as wide as their heads. For comparison: the diameter of an adult's eyes (24 mm) is about 1/7 the width of the skull.
6. Kangaroo jumpers
At night, when the city falls asleep, a kangaroo jumper wakes up. And he goes on a difficult fishing.
The cheeks of these little gluttons are always swollen with prey. The animals need about 100 grams of dry barley seeds per month. Moreover, they themselves weigh from 35 to 180 grams.
But water is practically not needed, the kangaroo jumper extracts all the moisture from the seeds.
The kangaroo jumpers got their name from the habit of jumping on their hind legs, like a kangaroo.
5. Fish-drop
Sometimes the funniest animals in the world look like the embodiment of sadness. Of course, you will be saddened when you were made the mascot of the Society for the Conservation of Ugly Animals.
But thanks to its appearance, the drop fish appeared in many Internet memes, and even sailed to the movies. For example, she is in the third part of "Men in Black", and in one of the episodes of the television series "The X-Files" ("Rm9sbG93ZXJz").
4. Haitian cracker
If you want to laugh at this long-nosed animal, do it so that he does not hear you. After all, the bite of the Haitian cracked tooth is toxic, although not fatal to humans.
Surprisingly, in the process of evolution, cracked teeth did not develop immunity from their poison. And given that they love and know how to fight with each other, they often die from the teeth of their own relatives.
3. Darwin's Bat
it unusual animal as if preparing for the hottest date in my life. And overdid it with makeup.
Darwin's bats are not good at swimming, so they adapted to walk on the bottom on modified pectoral fins, more like legs.
And to catch prey, these fish use Illicium and Esca. The first is a part of the dorsal fin, altered in the process of evolution, and hanging over the mouth. And the eska is the pouch at the end of the illicium. It emits light that attracts small fish that fall right into the bright red lips of Darwin's bat.
2. White leaf-bearing
Let me go! I am evil! I am the night! So this bat could squeak in the hands of a man.
However, being less than 5 centimeters in length, the white leaf-nosed may not even count on scaring someone larger than a mosquito. And this species does not drink blood, preferring fruits.
1. Australian echidna
If in other photographs of the coolest animals it is more or less clear what exactly nature wanted to create, then when you look at the echidna, only one question arises: what is it? Why does this creature have porcupine needles, a long anteater nose and a brood pouch like a kangaroo? Well, the echidna is originally from Australia, and this country is full of all kinds of strange creatures.
Interestingly, the echidna is one of the few mammals in existence to lay eggs. After laying one egg, the female echidna puts it in a bag. There, a young echidna hatches and stays until it grows up.
And in order for the echidna to lay eggs, first it must mate, and then another oddity of this creature manifests itself. During the mating season, males gather and circle around the female, and when she is ready to mate, the males dig a trench, pushing each other out. The last male remaining in the trench enters into mating with the female.
In female echidnas, the reproductive tract forks in two, while the male echidna has a four-headed penis. Moreover, only two heads are “active” at the same time, and the male alternates between them until mating is successful.
