The earliest forms of cinema, from the very first film in the world, should have evoked some kind of emotional response from the audience.
And even if a film flopped at the box office or drew criticism from critics, that doesn't mean it doesn't have some intrinsic value. Moving as far as possible, filmmakers pushed the horizons of cinema to such an extent that even in the blackest barrel of ointment you can find a spoonful of honey. We present to you ten films that are made so poorly that they are even funny.
10. Mosquitoes (1994)
Genre: horror, fantasy
Kinopoisk rating: 4.7
IMDb rating: 4.8
Country: USA
Producer: Gary Jones
Music: Allen Lynch, Randall Lynch
If you dare to watch this movie, you can enjoy the hideous special effects of giant mosquitoes, more funny than the frightening sight of "sucked" victims and the active madness that is happening on the screen.
The Mosquito plot is pretty simple. An alien spaceship crashes in the middle of a forest next to a popular camping site. A bunch of mosquitoes feast on the dead alien's arm, and his blood looks like super steroids. The little critters grow to the size of a golden retriever and start attacking the camp and any other people they come across.
9. Collision of Stars (1978)
Genre: action, fantasy, adventure
Kinopoisk rating: 4.8
IMDb rating: 4
Country: USA, Italy
Producer: Luigi Cozzi
Music: John Barry
Writer and director Luigi Cozzi conceived his story years before Luke and Han raided the Death Star, but it wasn't until the success of Star Wars that he was able to get funding for his movie.
Two galactic smugglers (one of them is a busty beauty) must find the son of the emperor of the galaxy and save the galaxy itself from the evil Zarth Arn (hello, "Star Kings" Hamilton). Their searches lead them to various places, for example, to the planet of the Amazons, while the plot constantly makes "these turns", and the heroes fight with lightsabers.
Clash of Stars is arguably one of the coolest low-budget films out there, and it's so bad it's good at it. Yes, it is in many ways a plagiarism from Star Wars, but there were also much worse plagiarism of Star Wars, which were made for much more money.
8. Rock and Roll Nightmare (1987)
Genre: horror, music
Kinopoisk rating: 4.3
IMDb rating: 4.1
Country: Canada
Producer: John Fasano
Music: John Mickle Thor
Mixing film and music is a risky proposition. Music can distract from the rest of the film, and instead of being helpful, it becomes a nuisance. But in "Rock 'n' Roll Nightmare" nothing distracts you from the main action, because he comes on stage - John Mickle Thor, playing death metal and flexing muscles in all parts of his body. And although the film is absolutely terrible from the script to the special effects components, it will make you smile more than once.
And now, briefly about the plot. Located in a farmhouse in Canada, which is also the "gates of hell" (actually an alternate title for the film), John Mickle and his bandmates are recording their new album. But the demons who live in the dwelling, it seems, do not like music, and begin to demonstrate this in every possible way to musicians and their girlfriends. As the film progresses, John Mickle Thor remains the only one who fights this evil.
7. Three dragons (1997)
Genre: thriller, family
Kinopoisk rating: 2
IMDb rating: 1.4
Country: USA
Producer: Dave Eddy
Music: Arlen H. Ball
The three main characters - Damien, Tanya, and Steve - laze around in their treehouse talking about the things that most kids their age care about: corporations are destroying the environment. While Tanya, a local liberal, and Steve, a fat Republican, discuss this important issue, Damien encourages them to stop because he wants to share an important find - the ninja magazine White Dragon that he found.
So is this a comic book movie? Or will the characters end up in the comic? Or does the comic book hero exist in reality? Well, welcome to the biggest problem with this movie. Apparently, there are several levels of reality that this film works with, and even after watching, you will not be sure if at least one of them exists.
The characters learn karate from their sensei, who may or may not be the White Dragon. Also in "Three Dragons" there is a certain Cobra Khan from the clan of evil and his minions. It's funny to see how this movie itself cannot understand what it wants to show the audience.
6. Robot (2010)
Genre: action, fantasy
Kinopoisk rating: 5.8
IMDb rating: 7.10
Country: India
Producer: S. Shankar
Music: A.R. Rahman
There are a lot of "masterpieces" in Indian cinema, sometimes completely absurd in their plot, sometimes filmed frankly "on the knee", and sometimes combining both of these shortcomings.
But we did not pay attention to them and chose "Robot" because it is a masterpiece in its own way. Just what is the scene, how dozens of robots "with a human face" gather in a huge ball, bristling with weapons, and shooting in all directions at once. Where else can you see such intensity of pathos, implausibility and epicness?
If "Robot" does not make your soul dance while watching, and your stomach shake with laughter ... then you can always watch another version from our selection of good films in their disgusting.
5. Birdiecalipsis: Shock and Awe (2010)
Genre: Action, Horror, Thriller
Kinopoisk rating: 2.2
IMDb rating: 1.8
Country: USA
Producer: James Nguyen
Music: Andrew Seger
Fans of very bad B movies got a real treat in 2010 with a love letter from Vietnamese director James Nguyen to Alfred Hitchcock and his Birds.
The ecological bias that is at the heart of Poultry Calipsis is also a bad but hilarious attempt to make a political statement with this monstrously filmed film.
It's funny that Nguyen filmed the second part on the wave of the audience's emotional reaction from "Pticecalipsis". It turned out to be more dynamic than the first film, but even more moralizing. According to unofficial information, now one of the worst directors in the world is saving up money for a fantastic picture "Pticecalipsis 3D". Maybe we should not?
4. Wild Nymphomaniac in Dinosaur Hell (1990)
Genre: horror, science fiction, fantasy
Kinopoisk rating: 3.3
IMDb rating: 2.6
Country: USA
Producer: Brett Piper
Music: Astral Warriors
The 70s, 80s and 90s are a goldmine for bad cinema. They were the perfect storm of cheap special effects, bad acting, and cultural frenzy. That being said, most directors just enjoyed what they did, even if they did it horribly.
And "Wild Nymphomaniac in Dinosaur Hell" is just such a case when all that remains is to relax and enjoy the director's naive and at the same time reckless idea. Even the title of this movie is inspiring, right?
But the film is not just some kind of low-grade horror film. This is an attempt to show a post-apocalyptic future, albeit in a fantasy setting that looks like it was done by fifth graders at recess. This is probably a tribute to the science fiction of yesteryear.
3. Policeman-samurai (1991)
Genre: action, thriller, crime
Kinopoisk rating: 5.2
IMDb rating: 4.6
Country: USA
Producer: Amir Shervan
Music: Alan DerMarderosyan
One of the best worst films in the history of cinematography was made for Iranian millionaire and American fan Amir Shervan. In the late 80s and early 90s, he created a whole series of films, from "Policeman from Hollywood" to "American Style Murder." Immediately after them, "Policeman-Samurai" was filmed.
The main character is called Joe Marshall, but everyone calls him a "samurai cop" because he studied martial arts in Japan. He spends most of his time flirting with every woman he sees. His partner Frank is a typical black sidekick of the 80s, introduced to the plot mainly for his comic lines. And the dialogues in this film will immediately show you how a foreigner sees the American police of that time.
In short, if you want a movie parody of police action movies, when watching which the brain “goes to sleep,” then “Policeman-Samurai” is exactly what you need.
2. Troll 2 (1990)
Genre: fantasy, family
Kinopoisk rating: 3.8
IMDb rating: 2.9
Country: USA, Italy
Producer: Claudio Fragasso
Music: Carlo Maria Cordio
When the script for a film is written in terrible English by people who speak only Italian, when the actors come to audition for minor roles and get into the main roles, Troll 2 appears. A movie that is so awful that it is even interesting.
There is something to see in every scene of this painting. This is the true definition of what a B movie should be: low-budget, with unknown actors (but at least they tried), bad special effects, disgusting music, and a plot that revolves around a boy being chased by man-eating goblins. Yes, yes, despite the name of the film, there are no trolls in it.
1. Room (2003)
Genre: drama, melodrama
Kinopoisk rating: 4.6
IMDb rating: 3.7
Country: USA
Producer: Tommy Wiseau
Music: Mladen Milicevic
We are talking about a film so bad that it is even good, which means that we mean 2003 "Room". We say "Room" and we mean "deliciously awful movie." Because watching it to the end, while maintaining your sanity, is akin to a feat.
Tommy Wiseau was the screenwriter, director, producer and leading actor. A huge budget of $ 5 million allowed him to create a movie, recognized by many critics as the worst in the history of cinema.
There is no sense in the "Room" as such, the dialogues with a very serious expression on their face look like the ravings of a madman, most of the actors do not even pretend to try. And all this creates the atmosphere not of a drama about a man who has lost everything, but of a black comedy with elements of melodrama.
Robot 2.0
Where did you find something like that? But I would argue about the Room. Yes, there is a cloud of sins, and most importantly it is not clear where the declared, in my opinion, still 6 million. However, it is NECESSARY to watch it to the end. It's not clear how, but the film beats out incredibly strong emotion. It's just a pity to death for this unfortunate kind man. Until the last moment I hoped that he would not do it.
In spite of everything, the movie is very decent. Worthy of many who are considered better.
The room ... it's tin. Ommi just laundered money from drug dealers
No need to drive a robot. Great movie. Ours and so can not. IMDb rating: 7.1 In the ass, this movie left a lot of people.
I completely agree.
But what about Attack of the Killer Tomatoes?
